Heathrow Airport - LHR
One of the busiest airports in the world, certainly a hub for Europe, Heathrow has four terminals and is always busy. The airport boasts good duty free shopping and is well equipped with facilities for all travel needs.
Terminal 1 handles all domestic flights, terminal 2 is mainly for flights to European destinations, while the majority of long haul flights depart from terminal 3 and 4.
Heathrow is huge and boasts convenience food to suit most tastes. Likewise, the UK's best known convenience outlets are also represented. Left Luggage is well organised, and services such as banks, post office and freight services are conveniently offered.
Extensive duty free shopping is available only if you are leaving Europe (boarding card must be presented), as well as endless souvenir shops.
London black cabs are available from outside each of the four terminals.
Money and Communications
There are ATMs and bureaux de change facilities throughout the airport, as well as post offices in Terminals 2 and 4. Stamps can be bought in newsagents and book shops in each terminal and there are post boxes after passport control. There are public telephones in the main areas of each terminal, as well as wall-mounted pay fax machines.
Eating and Drinking
There are numerous restaurants, bars, fast food outlets, coffee shops, pubs and sandwich bars throughout the airport.
Shopping
There are a wide variety of shops in each terminal including music shops, book shops, newsagents, clothing accessories shops, electrical goods shops, pharmacies, sunglasses shops, shoe shops, sweet shops and perfumeries.
Luggage
Left luggage offices can be found in each terminal, whilst lost property can be reclaimed from the Airport Lost Property Office, telephone number provided.
